New OpenCage users are reporting a strange increase in sign-ups that are using the free trial of their geocode API to locate mobile phone numbers. Upon investigation, it seems that ChatGPT, an AI question and answer service, has erroneously recommended the "reverse phone number lookup" capability based solely on a phone number.
Users are frustrated, but there isn't a clear solution yet. As always, be skeptical of AI recommendations and verify the truthfulness of the answers.
