Adding New Tools Using Extensions

One of the most powerful features of VS Code is its extensibility. If you have a specific need that is not covered by the default features, you can install extensions from the VS Code Marketplace. The same applies to GitHub Copilot. There is a special set of extensions usually referred to as "GitHub Copilot Extensions" that add new tools to Copilot.

For example, you can integrate Mermaid diagrams into Copilot by installing the Mermaid Chart extension. Once installed, you can use the chat to generate Mermaid diagrams by adding Mermaid as a chat participant:
