Cosine Similarity

To measure how close two vectors are, the standard technique is cosine similarity — it calculates the angle between them. A cosine similarity of 1.0 means the vectors point in exactly the same direction (identical meaning), while 0.0 means they are unrelated. This is how search works in a RAG system: embed the user's question, then find the stored vectors with the highest cosine similarity.
