Canonical Announce Major Ubuntu Kernel Change

Canonical will now ship the latest upstream kernel code in development at the time of a new Ubuntu release, even if it is still in Release Candidate (RC) status. This new policy aims to provide users with the latest features and hardware support, differing from the current method where stable kernels are used. As soon as the kernel goes stable, Canonical will package and release it as a software update.
