Investigating the impact of HTTP3 on network latency for search

Dropbox wants to improve its search experience by reducing search latency. They conducted a research study and found that network latency, which depends on the user's distance from the data center and time of day, is a major contributor to slow search times. They tested a possible solution by creating a test subdomain with a noop API endpoint and running a series of simulations to eliminate head-of-line blocking and reduce server latency. Results showed a significant improvement in latency reduction, especially for international users.
