Kubernetes Cluster Features 8 Raspberry Pis, Custom PCB

Maker Alexander Rau has used eight Raspberry Pi CM4 modules to power his custom Kubernetes cluster, which he documented in a thorough blog post. Rau developed a custom carrier PCB for the CM4 modules to provide necessary features and created a cluster tray from scratch.

  • He used Rancher to manage the cluster, with each Raspberry Pi CM4 running the latest version of Raspberry Pi OS, necessary for automating the cluster using Ansible.
  • His completed Less-is-More carrier board offers Ethernet support, a microSD slot and an M.2 M-key socket for SSDs.
