Microsoft Azure has released new capabilities for Azure Virtual Desktop to enhance storage, endpoint security, configuration, and more. These features include:
General availability of FSLogix profiles for Azure AD-joined VMs, allowing seamless access to file shares from Azure AD-joined virtual machines for users synchronized from Active Directory and using them to store FSLogix profile containers.
General availability of FSLogix 2210 for Azure Virtual Desktop, which includes the VHD Disk Compaction feature that reduces the amount of consumed storage for an employee's profile.
General availability of Azure Virtual Desktop Insights at scale, which allows for reporting of key information across resources in one view, including diagnostic and connection information across multiple host pools and subscriptions.
General availability of RDP Shortpath for public networks using the Simple Traversal Underneath NAT (STUN) protocol, which improves the transport reliability of Azure Virtual Desktop connections over public networks.
Public preview of symmetric NAT support for RDP Shortpath on Azure Virtual Desktop using the Traversal Using Relays around NAT (TURN) protocol, which establishes a UDP connection indirectly using relay with the popular TURN protocol for symmetric NAT.
Public preview of Watermarking on Azure Virtual Desktop, which prevents the capture of sensitive information on client endpoints by enabling watermarks to appear as part of remote desktops.
Public preview of Private Link for Azure Virtual Desktop, which enables access to session hosts and workspaces over a private endpoint in their virtual network.
General availability of Microsoft Teams application window sharing, which allows users to choose a specific window to share from their desktop screen.
These enhancements will enable users to have greater flexibility and security in their virtual desktop environments. They demonstrate Microsoft Azure's continued commitment to providing its users with new and innovative features.
